The Town

On October 15, 1901, Poás was established. A town recognized for its charming people, pleasant weather, strawberries, local cheese, coffee, and panoramic views of the Central Valley, as well as its role as a hub for the production of decorative flowers and ferns. The Poás Volcano, a "living mountain," is accompanied with a diversified and exciting tourist attractions.

Transportation

Our guests are encouraged to bring their own vehicle. The route 120 to Alajuela's Poás Volcano provides quick and easy access for our hotel guests in any sort of vehicle. We are ideally positioned in the same province as the airport and are only 45 minutes away for foreign guests. It is possible to arrive by renting a car, using a taxi, or taking one of the various public bus lines.

Typical Breakfast

The typical breakfast at Altura Hotel will make you feel like a local. Our guests are always served gallo pinto, cheese, eggs from our chickens, delicious plantains, sour cream, bread, handmade tortillas, and fresh fruit. During all other meal times, you can experience the local cuisine by visiting one of the many traditional and delicious restaurants in the region.

Typical Breakfast

Every day between 7:30am and 9:30am, our guests can enjoy a delicious traditional Costa Rican breakfast. Pancakes and scrambled eggs are available for the younger ones.

Viewpoint

We provide an area from which you may take in the breathtaking views of the central valley. Clear nights are sometimes the best time to hear the howling of coyotes in the middle of the night.

Gardens

The Altura Hotel is mostly bordered by grasslands. This is why we set aside a portion of the property for the replanting of Poasito species. You will be able to enjoy the trails and the animals that dwell on the property throughout your visit.

Fire Pit

At 5:30 p.m., our bonfire is lit, allowing our guests to appreciate the wonderful surroundings in a much more pleasant environment. The fireplace is mostly appealing to the younger ones because it can be a great spot to cook marshmallows..
